Customer Challenge: Visibility Bottlenecks in Clear Airspace
Paragliding is carried out under sunny conditions with good visibility, but pilots still need to maintain high visibility warnings to ground personnel and other aircraft. Existing products on the market have two core defects:
First, insufficient LED brightness, resulting in short warning range; Second, a narrow light coverage angle, making them difficult to identify from the side or at an angle.
Furthermore, the paragliding environment is bumpy, and landings are prone to impacts; conventional paramotor strobe light and shells are easily damaged by repeated impacts.
A Canadian customer approached us with paramotor strobe light samples, and their core requirementswere clear: to significantly improve brightness and viewing angle while maintaining portability, and at the same time control the overall cost to fit into the pricing space of a niche market.

Engineering Plan: From Two Concept Versions To Final Finalization
Based on the samples led beacon light by the client, we proposed two initial designs:
Hexagonal design:
Powered by a button battery, with a double-sided light panel and a PC or plastic casing. While compact, this design limited battery capacity, and its battery life could not meet the client's core requirement for extended usage time.

Rectangular solution:
Increased battery capacity, double-sided light panel, and plastic-encapsulated casing. Significantly improved battery life, minimalist design, and the plastic-encapsulation process eliminates the need for new molds, effectively helping customers reduce mold-making expenses and control overall costs.

Based on the customer's core requirements for high brightness and long battery life, a rectangular design was ultimately chosen. A Type-C charging port replaces the traditional Type-B, improving versatility—a standard mobile phone charging cable is sufficient for charging.

Proactive escalation: continuous iteration based on usage feedback
After several rounds of flashing beacon light product finalization and supply, we identified two new areas for improvement based on customer feedback and the characteristics of paragliding:
* Insufficient visibility: The current brightness still limits long-distance visibility in open airspace.
* Impact resistance: Landing bumps and accidental falls may damage the LED.
We proactively proposed an upgrade solution to the customer, adding an external LED lens. This improved light focusing efficiency and warning range without altering the existing product architecture, while also enhancing the physical protection of the LED chips. The customer fully approved of this optimization solution, and upgraded versions will be supplied for subsequent orders..
